Very sad news indeed. I saw this on FB:- Dearest Family & Friends, it is with deepest sadness that we have to share the news that John has sadly passed away on the 7th August 2024. Words right now there are none.
If you would like to attend the funeral service it will be taking place at Telford Crematorium 29th August 2024 at 9.15am followed by a wake at The Half Moon Inn, Jackfield (TF8 7LP) until 2pm, food can be purchased there if required. No flowers please any donations please use the donation plates at the Crem. Any donations will go to MIND mental health charity.
I am deeply saddened to hear this news. I was wondering why I hadn't heard from Jay Jay in a while on the RG forum board. Thankyou Jay Jay and other Rory fans for welcoming me to the Rory Gallagher Forum in 2010. It's has been such a journey learning about Rory and sharing his music with other fans on this board. Jay Jay's passion for Rory and his music will never be forgotten. Thankyou so much Jay Jay for sharing your memories on Rory and being a modulator for the RG Forum, with Cynthia and Jim. Susie and me met Jay Jay at the RG Festival in Ballyshannon in 2013. He was an absolutely gentleman and looked out for is. My condolences to your wife Anette and your family and friends. RIP Jay Jay. You will be missed and especially on this Rory Gallagher Forum Board. We know you are with Rory now. Love Subrata and Susie.xxx

I am so very sorry to hear of JayJay’s passing. He was a dear man, always kind and very helpful. He worked tirelessly to preserve and promote Rory’s legacy and his music.
JayJay and JimLED were both so very supportive and helpful. JimLED is in the middle of a war zone and I hope he is safe.
Rest in peace JayJay. Until we all meet up again. ♥️

Such sad, sad news. Jay Jay was such a tireless advocate for perserving Rory's memory and legacy. I remember him welcoming me to the old Meeting Place forum in the early 2000's before it became Loose Talk and then this Forum. He always, along with JimLED, kept a steady hand on the helm of the forums, especialy during stormy weather, as Cynthia can attest, when we had some heated royale battles on the pages on controversial topics. Jay Jay was always judicious and kind, but could bring the ban hammer out when it was needed. Thats why we all respected him. But his love of Rory shined bright over these pages, and he will be missed. I feel guilty that I have not visted here lately but life happens, as you all know. Anyway, as Jay Jay always signed off, Sla'inte. Peace to Jay Jay.

Very sad news. I am deeply saddened to hear this news too. A great loss for all of us, especially for his family and friends. I met Jay Jay back in 2006, when I started getting interested in Rory's music and found the Meeting Place community. And only 13 years later we met for the first time at the Rory festival in Vienna. He was an extremely sociable, erudite person and could talk for hours about Rory Gallagher. It was there at the festival in 2019, where I met his wife Annette too. The good times are over and we all will miss him. My condolences to Annette and his family. Who know what happened to him? Suby? (his favorite song) Rest in Peace, my friend!
