I enjoyed it as I always do when Donal is telling all these stories about working with Rory and all the behind the scene happenings. I've heard quite a lot about these Rory's tour stories before. Yet Donal always comes out with a few new things about life on road touring with Rory around the world. I was wanting especially near the end on this podcast that the Dutch presenter would ask Donal the question "When are you going to put out your Rory Story Book / Bio?" With all these fascinating tales you have to tell.

Happy Birthday Donal.Thankyou for keeping your brother Rory’s music legacy alive. Thankyou to your sons Daniel, Eoin and everyone else. Subrata and Susie.xx
Lovely quote from Dónal taken from an interview with Paris-Move in 2011 about why he chose to dedicate his life to Rory.
"Why have I dedicated my life to my brother? I don't know. In our family, there was just the two of us… My father was away very often and Rory was a great brother to me. Like a father. I think he shouldn't have taken on this responsibility of father when my father wasn't there because it was very heavy for him. We were very close. We even started playing music together. When he started doing little acoustic concerts in Cork, he would take me to do the backing vocals because in churches or family clubs where you could play, the only accepted repertoire was that of the Everly Brothers. It was Rock 'N' Roll, but no one was offended by 'Wake Up Little Susie'. Even the priests could laugh at that song. So we went everywhere together, even though I was terrified of going on stage. One night, he fired me because we had a fight on stage [laughs]. It was the end of my career and I started to help him carry his amps. I also started to realise the financial aspect when he started playing in England. He was writing to my mother to say everything was fantastic and he was fine, and then I was learning from another musician in the band that he had no money and wasstarving to death from not having eaten for 3 or 4 days. But Rory was just happy to have met Georgie Fame or to have opened for the Byrds. Why am I still taking care of him, even though he's no longer here? Because I always thought there was a great injustice to Rory, that he never got the recognition he was due… And I would also say, if I didn't, who would?"
