I can occasionally overdose on an artist – so I have not listened to Rory over the last few months. But in November, my youngest son passed away unexpectedly…… One Rory tune he liked was “A Million Miles Away” I made it the backdrop for the photo/video I made for his service. I'm very sorry to hear about your son.
My favorite Rory solo is Overnight Bag. (It's not his most distinguished solo, but I find it, and the song more generally, quite moving.)
At this time of year I'll take this opportunity to wish Rory fans: Nollaig shona agus athbhliain faoi mhaise daoibh.

Hi Sid & Seasons Greetings and so sorry to hear about the loss of your son. Regarding favourite Rory solo's there's no doubt in my mind. These two solo's in Rory songs make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.. Firstly on hearing second solo Tattoo'd Lady on Irish Tour '74 it happened. Then later Rory as with lots of his solo in songs live improvised even further.. This is a fantastic live example of TL's 2nd / last solo. Listen when he slows it down leaving it to bass and drums only and then Rory roars back in It is an absolutely awesome solo  Secondly I've always loved the 1st solo on the studio album of Photo Finish " Shadow Play " .. This is the nearest and best example live to the studio album version imho Rock On for Rory Slainte Jay Jay |

The Offenburg solo is one of my faves from the many great ones he did after going back the trio format. My deepest condolence Sid on the loss of your son. |

So sorry to hear about your son Sid, my thoughts are with you all and sending you all a warm virtual hug.
To be honest anything that Rory plays in my eyes and ears is darn well perfect. Let's face it he could rock out a tune with a comb and paper.

Jay Jay I would agree with you about the TL solo - it just makes you catch your breath in its brilliance. I have always loved the solo from Shadowplay - absolutely incredible.
