I can’t believe it. Rory’s guitar is to be auctioned off. Why would the family want to get rid of such an iconic instrument.
I know it’s estimated at around €1 million, but surely they’re not short of cash!!

Rory's family will have their reasons but I think it is very sad.

Let's hope that whoever buys it?.... will cherish this unique guitar that Rory loved, and not lock it up in a bank vault, but have it on display, and for musicians to play, that is my sincere hope. Hopefully the Irish government or people will secure this for the people of Ireland for one of their son's who gave so much joy and inspiration to the world of music. `it has taken me a few days to write this, as I never thought it would leave the Gallagher family, but hopefully the money raised will support a musical legacy that Rory would have loved, the man is gone, but his legacy lives on in his music for all time.

While I would never have the money to purchase. it myself.... I saw a report the Irish government is looking to buy it to ensure it stays in Ireland!!! Good move!!! As a thought - I missed the opportunity to purchase a poster - the full size of the Strat. I even looked in the ticket office when in Ballyshannon 2022, they only had the poster of the back side! Let's ask to re-issue it in light of the upcoming sale of the original!! I would certainly buy one!
