Yes indeed, Jay Jay, Mike Douglas' show used to be on and I used to watch it way back when. But the show they usually show with Jimi is Dick Cavett. Here's Mike Douglas with a couple other famous rock dudes. And a woman of questionable vocal abilities. Post script, at 8:14 Chuck Berry and John Lennon do Johnny B. Goode. I think Rory would approve.

Good bit of detective work there. Let's hope the Jimi quote is true 👍 Didn't take much detective work Cynthia. I looked it up on Wikipedia as shown with link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mike_Douglas_ShowWhere it states MD's show ran for 21 years from 1961 until 1982. You must have been very busy at that time in your life to have never heard of the show. Or could you pick it ip from the state where you lived at the time? Can you tell me what year the US changed from B&W TV broadcasting to Color? Here it was around 1969 /70. I'm just wondering if the MD show Jimi was on would have been in colour? You can see by other youtube clips of this Mike Douglas Show that lots of music stars appeared on his show John Lennon & Ringo Star from the Beatles and many many more plus these here.

JayJay, I think we have a misunderstanding. I didn’t say I had done any detective work. I also mentioned I used to watch the Mike Douglas show, as well as Dick Cavett. Mike Douglas Show ran when I got out of jr & sr high school in the afternoons, when he’d have noteworthy guests (IMHO). I had no interest in a lot of his guests, Liberace, Nixon, people like that.
I think the majority of the Douglas shows were recorded, yet film of Hendrix on his show has never surfaced. I think people are mistaking it for Jimi’s appearance on Dick Caxett.
As I said previously, I believe Hendrix may well have said it. I just don’t think any definitive proof has ever surfaced.
