What a great Rory Gallagher festival
Three years not seeing all the folk from around the world in Ballyshannon
First time staying at the Bull Frog 🐸 our host Aaron was fantastic
What a blast
The regular bands always put up a fine show eg Johnny Gallagher , Pat McManus etc etc
The Rock Hospital acoustic gig was brilliant with the three guys Mark, Aiden and Shamie
The outstanding new band has gorra be Zac Schulze Gang everybody talking about them (we’ve gorra invite those guys back)
I was fortunate to meet Rory’s two nephews Daniel n Eoin
They told us their dad, Donal was on the mend and will return next year, great news.
The weather was great for us started off a bit grey but soon the sun shine us most of the weekend
The tribute and remembrance of those who’ve passed was very fitting
May they all rest easy, Tony D and young Kieran
It got a bit emotional
We also missed Barry Barnes who’s been a forerunner to keeping Rory’s name alive I hope he’s well and can return next year
Our numbers were low this year, we lost one to the big C but I’m sure he was up there looking down
Three others are getting a bit too old to travel
Especially carrying a few health conditions
They could bounce back
For me though, I was over joyed to see Zac, Fresh Evidence and the massive amount of young-guns in the crowd whooping it up
The legacy of Rory will remain alive which was plain to see
What a smashing worldly group I’m lucky to be in.
Well played yo Barry O'Neill and his team of organisers and workers I’m sure it’s stressful work..
Hopefully you will be gain satisfaction and recognition for putting this..The greatest RG Festival going.
As Rory would say
Tanks a Million
Just to add to Tom's review.. not so many RG tribute bands this year as Sinnerboy retired. Yet the young guns besides Aiden Pryor Band and Mark Langan & The Mercenaries..
" Cat Fish ", " Deuce " and as you mentioned " Fresh Evidence " are all Rockin' on a treat for Rory
